This design comes closest to what we actually settled on. The copy in the deep background is a scan of the journal prop, created by Tonya herself, from the film. I was much happier with this concept - it came from the film itself and was provocative yet unrevealing. Tonya's name appears here just as it does in the opening credits as Tonya Ivey is Paranoid. The line of copy below that is one of the last lines from the poem - Would you like some coffee my love? I was always so intrigued by that extraordinary nonsequitor. A pure stroke of genius on King's part to throw this totally unrelated request amidst the chaos of her prose. I wanted early on to use it in the key art - but when we actually put it in - it seemed not to fit at all - so eventually, it was cut. |
